succulents + repurposed industrial fan screen

We lined this 32″ industrial fan screen with long fiber sphagnum moss.
The screen is about 4″ deep, perfect for holding 4.5″ deep potted Aloe ‘Pink Blush’.
With the moss in place, we began filling the screen …
and filling the screen …
until the surface was covered.
Then we added soil wherever we could find voids between the roots.
Finally, we added bailing wire to hang the baskets. Chain would look cool, too.
They’ve been hanging under the green roof all summer. Drought tolerant succulents look great, even in the heat. And they’re blooming!
