This hardy, deciduous, shrub has an irregular upright, arching habit. Forsythias need room to grow since they look their best unsheared. Yellow flowers bloom early in the spring before the leaves. Forsythias tolerate a range of soils and light conditions, but will flower best in full sun to partial shade.
Forsythia do need pruning and moderate maintenance from time to time. They bloom on old wood, so pruning should be done in the spring immediately after flowering.
