Also known as possum grape, this semi-evergreen vine climbs by tendrils. From the grape family, it typically grows to 30’ long, sprawling and climbing over rocks, shrubs, and trees in a variety of different habitats. Deeply cut trifoliate leaves have toothed margins. Tiny flowers in 2-inch wide clusters bloom in June and July, followed by inedible 1/4″ berries which ripen to black in fall. Leaves emit an unpleasant odor when crushed.
