Also known as possum grape, this semi-evergreen vine climbs by tendrils. From the grape family, it typically grows to 30’ long, sprawling and climbing over rocks, shrubs, and trees in various habitats. Deeply cut trifoliate leaves have toothed margins. Tiny flowers in 2-inch wide clusters bloom in June and July, followed by inedible 1/4″ berries which ripen to black in fall. Leaves emit an unpleasant odor when crushed.
