buffalo grass

Buchloe dactyloides

This drought-tolerant grass requires few mowings each summer to maintain a neat and trim appearance. Better yet, don’t mow and let them grow soft and wild! Buffalo grass will go dormant during excessive heat and drought, surviving long periods when water is unavailable, only to come back to life later! Plants establish quickly and can be planted after the last spring frost and through the end of August. Plant one plug every 12-18″ to establish a lawn in the first season.
