‘Rubra’ pussytoes

Antennaria dioica ‘Rubra’

Silver-white foliage carpet is topped with pink buds that resemble pussycat pads. Buds open to white flowers. Great for rock gardens or troughs, this little perennial is happiest in full sun, in drier soil of low fertility, and with sharp drainage.

Larval host to the American painted lady butterfly.

NATIVE TO ALASKA SOUTH ALONG THE PACIFIC COAST.

American Lady butterflies specialize on some Aster family members as food for their caterpillars, including Plantain-leaved Pussytoes, other Antennaria species.
