Fischer monkshood, wolfsbane

Aconitum fischeri

Eye-catching spikes of lavender-blue flowers open from late summer to early fall. Each individual flower is shaped like a little helmet or hood, thus the common name monkshood. This species has strong stems and does not require staking. Dark green, glossy foliage makes this a lovely plant even when not in bloom. A showy shade garden option.

Native to Korea and Siberia.
