Walter’s blue violet

Viola walteri

Scalloped round leaves are veined in silver and topped with bluish-purple flowers open in early spring. Plants prefer moist woodland areas and will colonize when sited in locations with adequate moisture. Spreads by both above-ground runners and rhizomes. In dry locations, plants will grow but not colonize. One of the earliest native violas to bloom.
