Lindera benzoin

A large, multi-stemmed shrub with aromatic twigs and leaves are aromatic that can be used to make a tea. Fruit can be dried and powdered to be used as a spice. Spicebush is an important native plant for birds and a larval host plant for the spicebush swallowtail. Male and female flowers occur on separate plants. The female plants will have bright red fruits beginning in September. They are easy to transplant!
