This rounded deciduous shrub grows to 3-6′ tall and wide. Native to dry rocky wooded slopes, banks, and forests, tiny, bell-shaped, pink flowers bloom in clusters in summer followed by clusters of pale green berries that ripen to pure white by late summer and early fall. Fruit remains attractive on leafless winter stems.
Shrubs will sucker and colonize, making these plants an excellent choice for erosion control.
Larval host for sphinx moths and snowberry clearing moths, fruit for robins, thrushes, waxwings, grosbeaks, and towhees. Provides cover and food for game birds and small mammals.
