Sagittaria latifolia

Commonly called arrowhead, duck potato, or wapato, this vigorous marginal aquatic grows arrowhead-shaped leaves and three-petaled white flowers in whorls of three. It grows submerged in shallow water or out of water on muddy banks. Native to sloughs, swamps, marshes and margins of streams and ponds throughout North America including Missouri, plants produce leaves and flowers on separate stalks, and leaves can grow in variable in sizes.
