Mexican petunia

Ruellia simplex 'Purple Showers'

Mexican petunias are happiest when grown in medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade. It is a versatile plant that tolerates an extremely wide range of growing conditions. It thrives as a marginal water plant and in boggy soils, but also does well in average garden soils. Plants tolerate high heat and humidity. Deadhead to encourage new flowers.

These gorgeous plants may not be super showy in the spring greenhouse, but gardeners in-the-know will pick these plants up knowing they’ll be richly rewarded from summer to frost.
