Huge tangerine-colored blossoms open on wiry stems from late spring thru early summer. Petals have a crepe-like appearance and a satiny texture, and each flower can measure 4-5″ across. In the center of the flower is a very large, velvety-black seed capsule surrounded by prominent, dark purple stamens. These perennials are showstoppers in spring, but keep in mind that after the bloom cycle is completed plants will go dormant. Just plant other perennials nearby to fill in the rest of the season.
