A dense, clump-forming sedge that grows up to 20″ tall. Commonly called palm sedge because the leaves somewhat resemble miniature palm fronds. Found in wooded swamps and floodplains, it spreads by rhizomes and self-seeding. Like other marginal water plants, once established palm sedge is tolerant of dry conditions.
Provides food and shelter to a variety of animals. Foliage turns yellow after frost.
