pagoda dogwood

Cornus alternifolia

An excellent native plant with four-season interest, these beautiful trees have unique horizontal branching and a distinct tiered habit. Clusters of white flowers open in spring, and dark green foliage turns a beautiful burgundy-red in fall with blue-black berries that attract many birds. An attractive small tree or large shrub for the shade garden.

Native to the eastern half of the US.
