Helen’s flowers, common sneezeweed

Helenium autumnale

Clusters of daisy-like flowers 2″ in diameter have distinctive wedge-shaped, bright yellow rays dome-like yellow center disks. Flowers appear over a lengthy late summer to autumn — sometimes to first frost. The native grows 3-5′ tall.

‘Mariachi Bandera’ has brick red blooms with a bright golden halos that bring color to the late summer border and grows to a compact 12-18″ height.

A must-have for the late summer and fall perennial bed, these plants don’t wilt in the heat!
