honeyvine milkweed

Cynanchum laeve

This twining vine has heart-shaped leaves and white flower clusters following in late summer and fall with large pods holding seed topped with silky fluff similar to milkweed plants. Frequently confused with bindweed, this plant can be grown for late-season monarch butterfly caterpillars — check for cats before you remove wild plants!

If you aren’t lucky enough to have a volunteer you can add a Vinland Valley grown start. To control spread, remove seed pods when green.
