‘Black Kight’ produces striking deep purple blooms from summer through frost. Long panicles grow an amazing 8″ long and attract pollinators. Foliage is persistent into winter, making a nice contrast with dried grasses and woody stems. Cut plants down to the ground in spring. Blooms on new growth.
Butterfly species attracted include Monarch, Buckeye, Black Swallowtail, Tiger Swallowtail, Pipevine Swallowtail , Snout Butterfly, Great Spangled Fritillary, Pearl Crescent, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Common Checkered-Skipper, and other Brush-footed butterflies.
