‘Blue Cloak’ white fir

Abies concolor ‘Blue Cloak’

This pyramidal compact form of white fir features thin, powder blue needles on gently weeping branches. An excellent addition to the garden for all-season color. ‘Blue Cloak’ is a dwarf conifer growing to be about 10 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 4 feet, filling out to the ground. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 80 years or more.

Grow in afternoon shade to protect from extreme summer heat and in a location protected from wind. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions and shouldn’t be allowed to dry out. Although not particular to soil type it does prefer acidic soil. Applying thick mulch around the root zone to protect roots from extreme heat and cold. This is a selection of a native North American species.
