Strong, durable, colorful, and entirely hand-made. Each basket is unique and beautiful. These baskets are made from river grass, known as “elephant grass” by local weavers in Bolgatanga, Ghana. Baskets with leather handles are wrapped in goat skin for comfort and durability. The leather is naturally tanned using local seeds and red millet.
Handcrafted baskets from Ghana generate extra income for the farmers and herdsmen who create them. Baskets are supplied by a Fair Trade Federation import company and proceeds from sales help to provide healthcare, education, and financial support to over 5,000 African weavers and their families.
