The only larval host plant for most of the range of the Zebra swallowtail is the common pawpaw, Asimina triloba.
Preferred nectar sources include blueberry, blackberry, lilac, redbud, and milkweed.
Zebra swallowtails are our only native kite swallowtails. Eastern Kansas is on the western edge of their range.
