New York aster is a low-maintenance perennial for average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. The Novi-belgii species is valued for its compact growth habit, rich flower color, and floriferous tendencies. ‘Alert’ has an especially compact habit with vivid deep crimson-red colored flowers with yellow centers. Plants grow 12-15″ high and wide.
