A warm-season bunchgrass native from Ohio to Nebraska and south to Louisiana and Texas. Purple tinted flowers appear in loose, airy panicles in July-August. Mature plants turn bronze in fall and have ornamental interest into winter.
Provides nesting materials and structures for native bees in all seasons.
