From Japan and originally described by Dr. Fumio Maekawa in 1940, ‘Yakusimensis’ forms a medium size, 16 inch high mound that spreads to about 40 inches wide. Leaves are lance-shaped, and slightly rippled with a smooth texture. Pale lavender blooms in dense clusters in late August.
