Umbrella trees grow to 50 feet in their native Australia and New Guinea. In colder climates, they grow as houseplants. Trees can be pruned to control size and grow best with protection from hot afternoon sun. Water regularly and cut back in the winter as needed. Plants can be moved outdoors in summer into shade.
