Mexican bush marigold, Lemmon’s marigold

Tagetes lemmonii

Narrow, green, fine foliage has a strong citrus-like aroma. The sunny yellow blooms attract bees and butterflies, while the seeds attract birds. While plants can grow up to 6′ high in their native Zone 8-11 range, they typically reach 2-3′ in our Zone 6 gardens.

Native to Arizona and Mexico.

Mountain marigold tea is said to sooth stomach and upper small intestinal irritation. If the upper gastrointestinal tract is inflamed, this plant offers relief through its mild anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
