‘Crimson Pygmy’ is a dwarf, dense, deciduous cultivar. One of the most popular of the many barberries in cultivation with reddish to purplish leaves are of variable sizes. Tiny, yellowish flowers appear in late April to early May, but are often hidden by the foliage and are not considered of ornamental value. Bright red berries form in fall and often last through the winter. The berries are attractive to birds.
‘Powwow’ is an upright, columnar form which grows somewhat slowly to 4-5′ tall and only 1-2′ wide.
